JOB DETAILS:

Water Treatment Specialist

Job Description

Water. It's a key element to a healthy life. As a Water Treatment Specialist in the Army National Guard, you'll make sure your fellow Soldiers have clean water and live and work in sanitary conditions.

Water Treatment Specialists are part of the Army National Guard's environmental health and safety team, using their acquired knowledge and skills to fulfill several vital needs. These skills include site reconnaissance and preparation for water treatment activity, as well as setup of equipment and facilities; operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment; management of potable water supplies; monitoring the storage, transport, and disposal of waste; water quality analysis and testing; and the inspection of facilities and food supplies for the presence of disease, germs, and other environmentally hazardous conditions.

These are skills that are in demand by local, state, and federal government agencies for food and drug inspectors, public health inspectors, health and safety inspectors, and industrial hygienists. So by joining the Army National Guard as a Water Treatment Specialist, you will be preparing yourself for a meaningful civilian career.

Earn while you learn

As an Army National Guard Water Treatment Specialist, you will learn these valuable job skills while getting up to a $20,000 enlistment bonus, earning a regular paycheck, and qualifying for tuition assistance. Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to learn.

After Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend approximately 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training that will include a combination of hands-on and classroom training where you will learn how to identify health hazards and how to inspect food products, food service operations, wastewater, and waste disposal facilities.
